“Hello? Sophia?” Nathaniel asked again. “Are you there?”

“Y-Yes… Yes I’m here. Are.. Are you alone?” Sophia continued to pace back and forth back and forth. 
“You mean is your mother within earshot? No she is not. She’s at the hospital with your brother,” he replied. 
“O-Oh… how is he?”
“Much better than he told the papers. Both of his legs are broken but he’ll probably walk again. More than likely he will walk again,” Nathaniel said. “You know how your mother likes to exaggerate.”
“yeah.. heh.. exaggerate. Listen… I need to ask you something. Now I know the last year has been hard on all of us, the last month has been an unexpected change for you guys and then of course the last few days have… have been hard. I’m not going to apologize for what happened to Tommy. I can’t. I know that even if you pretended not to see, you know the things he’s done to me. A-And Gabe was scared… daddy… Gabe and I are going to have a baby… and I’m not very strong.. we were just so afraid that something might’ve-” Sophia’s voice hitched. “When we went to the hospital that night.. the doctor couldn’t find the baby and we thought-” She had to take a second. Tears were in her voice and she was trying her hardest to hold herself together. She didn’t have someone to hold her hand or wrap her in their arms. She had sectioned herself off from everyone that loved her, because this was something that Sophia had to do on her own. 
“Is everything alright now?” He asked softly. 
“Yes..p-the baby is fine thank god.”
“good.”

Amelie picked Stark up so he stopped scratching the door. She poked his nose, shaking her head. She mouthed out ‘quiet’, then put her finger to her lips.
