Sophia giggled “I thought you were teaching me about babies” Sophia teased. Them she looked at Gabe. “Are a lot of them going to be at the house when we get there?”
Nathaniel looked at Amelie. “I suppose it’s for the best.” He nodded.

“I’ll teach both of you about babies,” She…

“ who are you talking about when you say don’t talk proper? Me or my dad? She asked Gabe.
Nathaniel nodded to gabe

Amelie poked Sophia’s side. “Both of you. You two talk too proper.”

"Well that’s his fault,” Sophia pointed at Nathaniel who shrugged
“It is how we were both taught to speak,” he said. “How would you prefer?”

“Just not as proper as you always talk,” She hummed. “A baby shouldn’t be hearing that much proper talking.”

“I’m not quite sure how you mean,Amelie” he told her looking at her with sincere confusion.
Sophia wasn’t sure either. She was a writer. She always spoke that way. Not as bad as Nathaniel though

“You say I have to or I’m going to, say I gotta or I’m gonna. Ain’t no baby gonna be talking like that at home,” She shook her head. “Momma, you hear how daddy talks. Broken English when he gets confused, not proper at all. Learn from him.”

“Are gotta and gonna even words?” He asked, over enunciating the both of them.
“I don’t think I’m as bad as he is,” Sophia said. “My friends in college didn’t speak proper so it rubbed off of me some. I’ll work on it,” she agreed.

“Yes,” Amelie looked at Nathaniel and nodded. “They’re words. Definitely,” She looked at Sophia. “You need to learn italian. Proper italian and, like, not proper italian. Cause half the shit daddy says is more slang than actual words.”
